So I have been terrible at keeping the progress of the house up to date.
There have been changes right up until this past August 2011:
- We had to replace our back deck doors last summer, as the original ones were installed improperly. This happened in the summer of 2010 and the final finishing was finally completed August 2011!
- We added soil and sod to the front and back yards in July-August 2010.
- We planted 3 trees in the front yard this past July (2011). This adds to the tree that was planted by the development in the fall of 2010. So there are now 4 trees in the front yard.
- We added a compost bin in the back yard.
- More recent photos would show that we added more red to the house. All the insides of the pillars were painted red. I think in the spring of 2010, but it may have been fall 2009!
Unfortunately I cannot walk out of the house and take a picture, because we are now living thousands of miles away in England.
So I thought I would shift this blog slightly. I will use this to post pictures and blog about our temporary home here in England. Thus the title has shifted from "Sage Creek Pioneers: to "Sage Creek Pioneers, now in Cambridge"
I will be back and forth between Cambridge, England and Winnipeg, Canada. So I will post updates to the development and photos of the house when I am back. However, I will be in Cambridge with Preston for long periods of time.
I will blog again about some of my projects and activities that I am working on while I am here as well as thoughts and observations about our daily lives!
Until next time...

House has been painted!
Here are some pictures from the front and back of the house:
If you look closely, you can see the black fence and concrete pad at the back of the house.
We are unsure about the back still. The red that is there seems a little random...so we are thinking about painting the pillars (red inside with the beige border). We are thinking that this would then add more colour to the back and continue the red down to the lower level. Any opinions?

We've been in the house for over 6 months!
It's hard to believe that we've been in the house for over six months! The time has flown by. Initially it was simply crazy. It was so busy trying to unpack everything, some boxes that hadn't been opened for over 8 years, other boxes that had been in storage for over 2 years! And both Preston and I were working full time, and the Christmas season is busy for both of us! Plus we had numerous parties after we moved in and both our families came to our place for Christmas!
The following are a number of photos from the past six months:
Our living room before furniture, on the day we received the keys:
Preston, me and our house builders in our living room! We still talk to them and see them every so often, as there are still things to finish up!
Here's a picture of the house from the front with the concrete sidewalk/ramp completed. Because it was winter when the siding was put up, the house has not been painted. In fact as of today (June 18) it still has not been painted. I will take pictures and post them when that has been completed. I think it will make a huge difference!
And here are some shots of the inside at Christmas time. The dining room, stairway with paintings, kitchen (with Kate, Dillan and Joel and then Ian) that look into the great room:
There are many things happening again, now that I have time and can be around the house to let people in and to make phone calls! A few days ago the concrete pad (off the walk-out basement door) was poured...so now we can go out the basement door (before it was a drop to wet soil!) Yesterday we had the flooring folks in to fix a small section of the floor that had buckled a little. Today the house builders were by to measure for decorative shutters that are going to go on the front (dining room windows), he was also checking the concrete pad. Then we had a couple of people here fixing the elevator door in the garage (Preston is having problems closing the door properly). There are people from the Sage Creek development who are building the open fence that marks the back of our property (and divides our property from the walkway). Finally there is a guy from the gas company who is attaching our BBQ gas line to our new natural gas BBQ. I think I will take pictures of all these things in the next few days and get it posted to the site.
That's it for now!

SIX days until we move in! Things are coming together
Things are happening fast these days.
Here are the most recent pictures from Thursday evening (November 20) ...
The ramp has finally been poured. There are at least four heaters in the tarp tent (right side of picture, obscuring the front door) helping the concrete dry!
The carpet is on the stairs:
Sinks, toilets, faucets, shower heads...etc, all installed:
Closets have shelves and rods (This is the closet in my office in the basement):
My office... notice the laminate flooring:
The backsplash in the kitchen has been installed:
The lights on the back deck:
It's unbelievable. We've been waiting for so long, and now it is so close to completion! I really can't wait to move-in, and yet it is going to be such a busy week. Maybe the next time I post something, I will be in the new house! WOW!

Nov. 15 Tiles, upstairs flooring and more!
Here's my regular shot! Quite a change from the first picture I ever took of this lot! Notice that the form for the ramp is starting to go up!
Here is a picture taken from the front door looking to the back of the main floor. You can see the stairs to the basement, part of the living room (the windows on the left) and the kitchen (the island on the right).
The fireplace and ash floors (pre-finished).
The deck with the railings:
The completed tiles (notice the green border for the coloured tiles that wasn't there in the previous picture).
The ovens in the kitchen!
